How 7 books changed my life in 2021, and how if you read them will change your life this year. But first let’s discuss how a book can change some oneβs life.
Truth be told, I have come across many of these titles, blogs and YouTube videos of book recommendations and I DO love them.
Because sometimes you hit plateau and you don’t know what to read next. Moreover, you need to see HOW a book impacted someone and in WHAT way. Therefore, it’s important to see what kind of a book can change someone’s -if not- life then perspective.
Yet, reading those titles like this one here “7 books changed my life” is a big statement.
I agree!

Why?
Because firstly, you have to read lots of books to decide which 7 books have changed your life. Secondly, life changing incidents or stories are relative and individualistic. Last and most importantly, only you decide what exactly changed your life. Is it an aspect of your life, your mindset, your perspective, or your understanding of your purpose?
That’s why in my article here, I will be discussing the best 7 books that changed my year to the best and for sure will change yours if you give them a chance.
Discover 7 life changing books to change your year to the best like me.

I choose my good reads by checking what people like Jay Shetty, Seth Godin, and other inspiring people read. Yet, my taste in books vary between self-development, fiction, finance, history, psychology…etc.
I do like to change genres every now and then so that I don’t get bored. At the same time, I gain more knowledge in different areas. Plus, I keep myself entertained, and I broaden my library.
Should you change your type of books?
YES!
For example, I love psychology. Consequently, self-development books. Books that will add value to my character and improve my mindset are always my aim. On the other hand, I love fiction too. Because it enhances one’s imagination. Otherwise, what is a person without imagination?
Boringly flat!
At the same time, I started reading in entrepreneurship to help me understand the business world as a young and a new entrepreneur.
Besides that I educate myself in marketing and copywriting since that is my true passion.
In short, I’m not a prisoner of any genre or one type of books.

How to choose your next favorite books to change your life?
Think about it this way, in the marketing world we have a term called niche. By saying that, figure out what aspect of your life needs improvement. After all, if you are going to read something and not benefit from it, that is a waste of time.
So, the key point of reading is investing in yourself.

If you are a new reader, then this is super easy. Pick a small book about a subject you like the most. Maybe a novel that you have watched a movie that is based on.
If you are an occasional reader, then pick a book that has something to do with the phase you are going throw, whether relationship, career, or finance.
If you already are an experienced reader, but you just don’t know what to read next out of boredom. Probably you don’t feel like reading anymore. Then you really need to change the type of books you read immediately. Moreover , change how and when you read.

7 books helped me change my life and year and will change yours
1-The power of now
I started this book in January 2021 because I was lost and obsessed about the future. I had some anxiety about what will tomorrow have for me. Millions of unanswered questions and fears were fighting each other.
The Power of Now shows you that every minute you spend worrying about the future or regretting the past is a minute lost. Because all you have to live in is the present, the now , only. It emphasizes the greatness of the current moment. It also gives you actionable strategies to start living every minute as it occurs.
2- A man’s search for a meaning
During my life coaching course that I mainly enrolled in to help myself finding my purpose. That book was frequently mentioned. That’s why I had it written down on my to read list and I’m grateful for that book.
Dr. Frankl’s book based on his experience in the concentration camp tells us that a meaning in oneβs life is the primary motivational force to keep living and to do what it takes to survive. The author is the founder of logotherapy, a technique used in therapies.
3- The 5am club
One thing I have always wanted but couldn’t do was waking up early morning everyday. It was something I didn’t find the motivation for. I started searching for all the books that would help me create habits that stick. One of those books was the 5 am club.
The book is seamed into a very interesting story of a group of people each of whom fighting his own battle.
By creating habits around 5 am, elevated those people from average to greatness. That is the point of the book, forget mediocre and pursue greatness. This book is for everyone who is trying to overcome his fears. It is also for people who have side hustles. Even if you are not an early bird there are lots of take away points rather than waking up early.
4-The Ikigai
I discovered this book by mere chance by listening to another audio book and the moment I heard the word, I became obsessed.
This book is all about the Japanese secrets of happy life. Why Japanese people live for a long age. Moreover, by not having the word “retired”, Japanese people live a purposeful and productive life till their time is up. Itβs the art of doing something with divine focus for a very long time.
5- The art of simplicity
Another treasure discovered by chance. Back in my flying days. Walking down the aisle -plane aisle. I saw that lady with her silver hair sitting in serenity and sublimity. The image still stuck in my head, the way she was absorbed in her book, with a halo around her made me green with envy. She screamed elegance and beauty. The book she was holding in her hands was βlβart de la simpliciteβ. I could not help but interrupting her to ask what she was reading. The book with its simple elegant cover made me more curious to know more about it. I searched about the book for so long but couldnβt find it. A couple of years later, I managed to listen to it in an audio version, it helped me to let go of things I hoarded for years, and things I was attached to for no reason. I literally decluttered myself physically, emotionally and mentally. The book is a must read for those who are searching for simplicity and aesthetics in their lives and minds. It teaches you that the more you collect; the less value, the less elegance, and the less beauty you attract.
6- The purple cow
One of the best books I have ever read, and I will re-read it again. Itβs for the remarkable Seth Godin, the guru of marketing. Even if you are not into marketing, the purple cow is about creativity and uniqueness.
Think about it this way, a field of brown cows, and one purple, which cow will attract you? The answer is obvious. The key point of the book is that it teaches you that we need to make remarkable products to attract people to us. This applies to everything. You need to make remarkable changes about you to stand out among the crowd in life, in your career, and in your relationships. That is how you create value.
The way the book was introduced first time in the markets is absolutely unique and genius. It was itself marketed through some of the techniques that Godin describes in his book. The first, self-published edition came packaged in a milk carton.
7- Atomic habits
Another great self-development book that you canβt miss for your personal growth this year.
If you are a person who is into growth and personal development, then this book is a must read. By reading this book you increase your chances of excellence day in and day out, with 1% of improvement every single day. Those baby steps prepare you for life changing decisions and a mental exercise to change for the best version of yourself on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
