With many celebrities opting out of the whole motherhood thing, you stand there wondering “is motherhood worth it”?
For example,I have always been dreaming of being a mother.I imagined myself brushing my daughter’s hair, dressing her up in matching dresses and walking hand in hand.
Little did I know that motherhood is not at all about dress ups and brushing hair. Being a first time mom is like no other experince and nothing will prepare you for it. Sometimes, I gave up on brushing my daughter’s hair beause it ends up being a wrestling match.
I also look at my old pictures of myself and see toned muscles, manicured hands, and trendy looks. To tell you the truth, some days when I manage to take a shower that would be thehighlight of my day.
Is motherhood all rainbows and unicorns?
The question here is: Is motherood worth it? Like really worth it? Is it worth the postpartum truama, the sleep depriviation, the continous parenting struggles. Is the whole motherhood worth it? The worry, the anxiety, the parenting and taming your demons reasoning with a little human who finds creative ways to be in danger?
The Joys of Motherhood
I’m following one of favourite social meida stars “Victoria Magrath, in the Frow founder” and she bravely stod in one of her amazing posts saying and I quote” my husband and I decided we will never have kids”. That statement completly shocked me and I could not process it. Additionally, I could not focus on what she said next or what her reasons were. But I kept thinking, how could she say that? Obviously, I know it’s a personal choice. However, I did not understand why a beautiful lady like her did not want a small copy of her and the person she loves.
Moreover, I kept thinking if she is right? I also though maybe she was. I sank deeper in my thoughts and asked myself if moterhood worth it? Like really worth it?
Motherhood – a magical journey
I read about many unfortuante women who would do anything to have kids and it tears me apart reading about others NOT wanting babies voluntarily.
I feel terrible evry time I snap at my daughter for not listening, for not letting me sleep, or for embarrassing me in public places. First, let me just explain that I don’t do well with pressure. I just can’t handle it. And moterhood is all about pressure!
Motherhood & Pressure
It’s true motherhood transforms your world in ways you will never imagine. It will change your mentality for ever. You will have a weakness point that you will trade your life to protect. You will have constant worry and anxiety. You will not spend your money on things you like, but on things another little human throws tantrums to have.
On the other hand, it will transform you profoundly, you will know a new kind of love you have never knwon before. When you hear “mama” for the firs time, it’s like nothing else in this world. The first smile, the tiny fingers wrapping around yours, and those contagious giggles – they redefine the meaning of happiness. As a mom, witnessing your child’s milestones becomes a treasure trove of joy that makes every sleepless night and messy diaper change worth it.
Okay, Motherhood worth it then?
Now, let’s be real. Motherhood is not all sunshine and rainbows. There are moments when you feel like you’re running on empty, wondering if you’re doing it right. But guess what? Those challenging times are also part of the package.
10 years ago, I wrote a post on facebook under an adorable baby picture she was making her dada laugh, and I commented saying ” I’d really love a baby, but I don’t want her to cry, I dont wan to change daipers, I still want to tarvel any time I want, and I don’t want any reponsabilties”. One of my friends replied” ok love, get yourself a doll then, forget about babies”
And yes , it’s true. You can’t have an adorable human being without reponsabilties. Even having a pet requires RESPONSIBILITIES.
